I think there's something major going on right now with Parallels, but I think it maybe Apple that have messed both vmwear and Parallels up with their latest updates.

I moved over to Parallels trial after vmwear breaking and have a similar issue with Parallels, they both eat the CPU and then present a Disk Read Error.

I reinstalled my OS X Lion (latest updates) used the latest version of Parallels got the XPSP3 VM to work for a day or so then upon resuming from standby and starting Parallels VM XP from "off" it eats the CPU and presents a disk read error.

I dot understand what else can be causing this, I have followed all instructions to similar issues, but at this rate will not be purchasing Parallels at all unless this will get fixed ?

I think it may have something to do with the latest Firmware update from Apple but not sure, everything is now un-installed, I have given up but thought it may be relevant for you guys to know..

    Added Info :

I forgot to mention that after a couple of reboots I can get it to fire up but its very slow at booting, sometimes it errors and sometimes it does not.. When its boots the CPU process mentioned above stays at around 100% but then the VM crashes in windows or at the XP loading animation..

Even if I delete the VM and make a new one I get 100% CPU so not an VM OS problem..
