Parallels 4.0.3540 with XP(SP2) on MacPro 2.6GHz (4cpu) with 5GB I upgraded from PD3 without any problems. The XP environment run fine (without coherence, etc). I enabled Kaspersky code and response literally died - taking minutes to respond to a mouse-click initially, then freezing whole MacPro machine. After rebooting, found that Windows responded sluggishly and fairly rapidly deteriorated to non-responsive and had to use Stop and Start in VM menu. Eventually managed to get Kaspersky uninstalled, but problems didn't go away. Now Windows won't even respond to Stop or ShutDown in VM menu. I can quit PD, and it appears to quit, but it leaves prl_vm_app running, using 100% of 1 cpu. Can anyone suggest any ideas of what is going on, and how I get it working again Many thanks Peter
No, I didn't try a second cpu. In the limited time that I had after each computer restart (Mac restart that is), I checked that all traces of Kaspersky were deleted and hunted around for anything that looked suspicious - didn't find anything, but eventually the looping didn't start after a restart, and everything worked fine. I'm puzzled - this doesn't make sense.
