Running Parallels Desktop 8.0.18101 r 797180 ("latest" per update check today) on OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 host. I have several VM's that are fine (all created under earlier versions of Parallels),Windows XP, 7, 8 (preview), Ubuntu 12.04LTS, but OS X Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 PVM is unable to connect to network, says "Cable Unplugged". Doesn't matter if I use Shared, Bridged Ethernet or WiFi, en0, whatever. Actually fiddled around and got it working earlier today and it was fine most of the day. Then after some updates and restarts it's borked again and I can't get it back now, ID10T me can't recall what bit of fiddling did the trick earlier :(

    Any suggestions? TIA!

    nvr mnd 4 now..

    probably resolved.

looks like it was issues with screwy temp network @ work, seems fine on home network. odd that other vm's tolerate funky work network tho...

    dang

Restarted 10.6 Server VM and "cable unplugged" again. I'm really enjoying this helpful conversation with myself.

    Thanks, me.

    and fixed again...

Deleted the Ethernet connection in VM's System Pref's/Network. Could not add back, option not there in drop down, only VPN, 4 to 6 & PPPoE. Googling led to Apple forums where some had same issue in hardware after botched 10.6.8 update and fixed by re-running combo update / running "fixed" 10.6.8.1 / 10.6.8.1.1 updates. Had an old copy of 10.6.8 Server Combo so ran it. After reboot there was still no Ethernet in Network but now when hit "+" to add the Interface: drop down included Ethernet, default name Ethernet 2, hit Create button, it added Ethernet 2, left it at normal DHCP & hit Apply. Bingo. Will be interesting to see if it survives a reboot, not gonna test 'til forced.

*thanks me* - *i'm welcome* ( & you too, parallels team, HTH ;)
