since upgrading to 10.5.3 Ive got some usb issues with vmware and parallels. the issue is that osx takes priority, if I plug my usb serial device in, I used to be able to use it in osx, then goto parallels or vmware and enable the usb device now the vm would use it. now I get a message in saying the device is in use. Ive tried in parallels to tell it to ask, which it does, but even if I select windowsxp, osx got to it first. same if I tell parallels that I want parallels to use it, parallels tells me when I plug the device in that something else is using it. same result when I plug in my gps (acts like a usb drive), cant use it in windows. any work arounds ?
Although I haven't seen this specific problem (not tested with Parallels yet), I have noticed that some of my external USB devices (a thumb drive and an external wireless adapter) have both become extremely flakey after 10.5.3. It seems that Leopard loads the USB driver then unloads it within a second. Been trying to find a solution but not having much luck. Could be a similar issue to this?
