Hi fellow Parallels users, I am having a problem with one application accessing the Internet on Windows. The application software developer has asked me to inquire with Parallels if ports 20 & 21 can access the Internet. I have given permissions for the application to access ports 20 and 21 through Windows firewall. However when I test this on the http://www.canyouseeme.org/ website ports 20 and 21 fail to be seen and states the reason for the connection failure is that the connection has timed out. Here is the websites error message: Error: I could not see your service on 151.203.236.232 on port (20) Reason: Connection timed out Error: I could not see your service on 151.203.236.232 on port (21) Reason: Connection timed out I also have set the Mac System Preferences>Internet & Network >Sharing>Services FTP Access switched on. Does anyone have clue as to how I fix this problem with Parallels? I would sure appreciate help from anyone on the subject. I have emailed support for a month with screen shots, no avail. I have just paid the $29.00 fee and still can’t get through for support. Thanks, Rhinoaa1
You leave me with two burning questions... 1. What is your setup? (i.e. Build number, Computer, etc.) 2. What kind of networking are you using? (i.e. Shared? Bridged?)
Ahhhh…… I finely was able to get through to phone support!!! Hello Eru, Ahhhh…… I finely was able to get through to phone support. As great as Parallels is as software it is sorely lacking in its technical support area. Thank goodness I was able to get a USA tech support person the problem was resolved with EXCELLENT technical support. I think if I got routed to an offshore solution I would have uninstalled Parallels and just gone with Bootcamp. But better beware it appears that VMware will be offering a Mac virtualization product by this summer. Oh thanks Eru, I had to vent that from my chest after all it’s been over a month!!! Bottom line you were going in the right direction. Parallels email support told me to use Shared but that disallowed DHCP throughput to the Windows OS. So long story short there was a lot of testing and resetting of Router, IP Addresses Subnet Masks etcetera. But the product came through!!! Thanks, Rhinoaa1
Glad it is all working! I've had issues like that in times past for some advanced networking, I just use Bridged and treat them as seperate computers. But, if it works don't fix it!
