    Ok. Thanks BTW, is there any dependency on a specific version of the JVM? XP's auto-update probably upgraded to Java 6.

    Thanks for the reply. I followed the uninstall/install procedure. That did seem to correct the problem with "flickering". However, Java GUI apps...
