Hi...this may be more of a Microsoft question but I'll ask it here. Can I copy an XP VM to another computer, and use both VMs and still have both XPs be legitimately licensed ? Can I somehow alter the second VM so it's fully licensed even though I didn't go through the install process on it? I'd have install disks with legit keys for each machine. I just don't want to have to go through the long install process on each computer. There'll be three or four laptops I'll be configuring with WinXP VMs. Again, I have a separate install disk and key for each one.
Hello Opus_az, I think that the answer for your first question is most likely to be "no". You'd really better ask Microsoft what is the best way to use a fully licensed Windows VM without going through the install process. Best regards, Xenos
Hi opus_az, Yes, their is, as long as you have real CD keys. Once you have moved the VM and start it and once it is booted run the Windows Activation Wizard and put in the new CD Key and Reactivate. Just remember it needs to be a valid CD KEy of the same type as the one originally used. This is not illegal if you have valid CD Keys that you have purchased. Thanks, spururajr
Yes, I believe that would be legal, as long as you don't actually USE the Windows VM with the invalid key until you put in the new key.
