Query category: Getting Windows Vista Business installed
Product: Parallels Desktop for Mac 3.x
    Build number: 5584
Host OS: Mac OS X 10.5.x Leopard
Guest OS/Remote OS: Windows Vista Business
    Type of computer: MacBook Pro
    Computer RAM: 2 - 4GB

Description: I am a PAYING Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 5584 owner. During Trial, I unsuccessfully attempted to install XP-SP2 (see http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?p=96647#post96647). I UNINSTALLED Parallels, then RE-INSTALLED, then attempted to install Vista instead. I am still seeing remnants from the XP install screen. It seems like the parallels uninstall did not completely erase my install attempt history for XP. It`s stuck and I cannot install Vista now. Please help. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE YOUR SOFTWARE DURING TRIAL - AND NOW I AM UNABLE TO USE PARALLELS TO RUN WINDOWS AS A PAYING CUSTOMER. I HAVE ALSO HAD A SUPPORT TICKET [Parallels #443164] INTO YOUR COMPANY SINCE FEB 15 AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE. PLEASE HELP!

    Hello Turcott,

Here is the answer that has been sent you twice, on the 24-th and 26-th of February:

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Parallels Uninstaller does not remove virtual machines from your Macintosh hard disk.
I suggest you to try the following:

    1) Erase your existing Virtual Machines manually
Virtual machines are usually stored under
    Documents/Parallels/
There you should have an XP and Vista folder which should contain .pvs
and .hdd files. Move these folders to trash.

    2) Then Start Parallels Desktop, Installation Assistant should appear.
Please create an ISO image of the Windows installation disk by means of
the Mac OS X Disk Utility, connect the image to the virtual machine and
install Windows from scratch using this image.

Follow the steps described in this article.

Installing Windows using ISO image should go without troubles.
    Please, write back with results.

    Best regards,
    Xenos
