Help: downloaded a program into Vista onto desktop. When I click on it it puts Windows Explorer in Dock of Mac but won't open. What do I need to do to open it.

    Thanks for any help.

In my case, I've downloaded an exe installer program on the Mac side which downloads it into my Downloads stack. I've set it to open with Windows Explorer in Vista. I see the icon in the Mac dock but nothing happens. Eventually, it quits and the icon goes away.

This works properly with Windows XP, so I'm wondering if it's one of those "security" issues in Vista. I have the ACL option turned off. In my VM's preferences, in Shared Applications, I have both "Share Windows application to Mac" and "Enable SmartSelect" checked; Shared Profile is disabled; In Shared Folders, I'm only sharing my Mac's Home folder.

    Any suggestions?

    for easiest installs
download from MS IE 7 for Windows software
and Siesta for Mac and Apple stuff

Firefox which is my basic browser, is not as easy to use for this purpose

I think that one of Parallels' strength is its coherence option, hiding away Windows in the background and making the two operating system work somewhat seamless. I always use the Mac side browser (Safari) and download to my Download stack.

When it is an EXE file, I expect to be able to just click on it and have it executed in Windows. This is exactly what I do when using Windows XP and though it would be possible with Vista as well.

I've turned on all the sharing and SmartSelect options for the VM with no avail. Is there no way to do this?
