I am experimenting with using the Shared folders on my OSX system to store XP data, this will allow me to use Time Machine to back up my XP data.

I have decided that I do not want to create the sharing folders in my MACUSER route location, I want to put an Alias for the folder there and locate the actual folder on a completely separate drive on the MAC, I can set this up fine, However when I come to view my User folder in XP via the Network Drives I can see everything except the Aliases are not recognized in Paralles/XP as short cuts.

Is this design intent or is there a problem on my system???

    Thanks

    John

It's called Windows not reading the OS X aliases. Do symlinks work?

Do you know shell scripting? If you know how to poke around type in 'man ln' and it should go over the types of linking.

    Syntax for a symlink is 'ln -s {src file/dir} {target file/dir}'
