I am experimenting with using the Shared folders on my OSX system to store XP data, this will allow me to use Time Machine to back up my XP data. I have decided that I do not want to create the sharing folders in my MACUSER route location, I want to put an Alias for the folder there and locate the actual folder on a completely separate drive on the MAC, I can set this up fine, However when I come to view my User folder in XP via the Network Drives I can see everything except the Aliases are not recognized in Paralles/XP as short cuts. Is this design intent or is there a problem on my system??? Thanks John
Do you know shell scripting? If you know how to poke around type in 'man ln' and it should go over the types of linking. Syntax for a symlink is 'ln -s {src file/dir} {target file/dir}'
