    Build 5582 3D Problems

Build 5582 has introduced some problems with DirectX 3D support that wasn't there with 5160.

    When running Final Fantasy XI

Not selecting "Enable DirectX Shaders (Experimental)" causes the game to complain that the video card has invalid TnL values.

Selecting "Enable DirectX Shaders (Experimental)" allows the game to run but with rendering errors that weren't there on 5160.

Performance overall seems improved but unfortunately the rendering errors make the game quite hard to play.

Same problem here. We bought Parallels recently to run SolidWorks on an iMac. With Build 5160 it was running reasonably well. This weekend we upgraded to 5580 and it broke it. Now if you hover over a 3D model or item, parts of it disappear. Totally unusable. We had to revert back to 5160. Too bad the newer version doesn't work for 3D. Was hoping to improve performance and not have it completely unusable.

Im having the same issue with FFXI after upgrading to 5582. I am thinking about downgrading back to 5540. Never had a issue with that build.

Any comments from the Parallels Team on this and possible fix scenarios before I consider downgrading?

I am also very interested in this question. I am running Leopard, and I currently have Vista Home 32-bit installed but I plan on downgrading to XP this coming week.

Are there any issues with the older build and Leopard? And how could I get my hands on the older build? I tried googling for places to download it, but couldn't find any.

Also, for the OP, how is FFXI on boot camp? Are you running it on Vista or XP? I've been having some issues running FFXI Config on Vista. I plan on contacting Playonline this Monday. If I can't resolve it by then, I'll probably just downgrade to XP.

I'm having the same issue upon upgrading to 5580 and while using Solidworks. Previous versions of Parallels have worked very reasonably, however the latest release runs terribly with SW. I'm using a new MBP with 4GB of Ram (splitting equally for each OS) and it's really struggling. A mate has the exact same scenario using his MBP - install 5580, SW = no good. Both of us have reverted back to older versions of Parallels for now - this is a real shame and it's a pain jumping back and forth between releases to find out whether the problem's fixed yet or not. Other software works fine - Altium DXP 6.8 is good. However PLEEEEEASE provide DirectX support!!

It would be nice to get some sort of a response from the Parallels Development team.

CKtoph, to run FFXI on Vista you need to download a different version of the POL client which can be found on the Playonline Web site.

Something certainly changed with Parallel's code in handling DirectX which caused FFXI to break after working perfectly a couple of builds back.

I hope that things will be fixed soon. Just a little distressing that nobody from the Parallels Support Team has contributed.

Someone from Parallels needs to respond to these issues! The same issue with SolidWorks are occurring with release 5584 using 10.5.1 & .2
