I am running Parallels 5584/Windows XP/Leopard 10.5.2/MacBook Air I have the full screen transition set to cube, however, there is no transition at all when moving into full screen mode. It just changes to full screen. The transition does work when coming out of full screen mode. What's the problem?
Hello Pagemakers, You might encounter the animation issue because MacBook Air processor is not powerful enough. Please try changing VM view mode from Full Window to Single Window several times to check if you will get the cube transition at last. Best regards, Xenos
The transition works perfectly when it comes out of full screen mode but does not work when it goes into full screen mode.
Pagemakers, thank you for the feedback. Parallels QA team says the animation drawing issue seems to be caused by low-performance of the MacBook video card. Best regards, Xenos
The MBA has a better video driver than my MB and that works fine. Are you absolutely sure that is the problem?
This seems to be a hardware issue, not software. MBA is quipped with integrated x3100 Intel video chipset, while Macbook Pro has separate dedicated video card from ATI or NVIDIA that has greater video performance. It also may depend on the overall performance of your system, including CPU and memory load. Best regards, Xenos
I have a MacBook Air and and a regular MacBook. They both use the same video card. Ie x3100 The transition works fine on one but not the other.
Could you please tell what is your MacBook Air CPU speed and a regular MacBook CPU speed? Best regards, Xenos
So you can see that MB is more powerful and that's why there are no animation issues there. Best regards, Xenos
Same problem with Mac Pro Hi, I have exactly the same problem BUT I am running osx 10.5.2./parallels 3.0 latest Build/osx graphics update/ on an Mac Pro with 4 GB RAM. any ideas? Are you still sure that this kind of animation really needs more resources than my Mac Pro has to give for Parallels?
I'm glad you are having the problem too (not in a nasty way). I am not convinced the problem is as detailed above. My Air transitions perfectly out of full screen but just not in to it. Parallels runs fine and I honestly don't think it's a graphics card issue. Your problem with your MBP can not be graphics related because the transitions work fine on my MB and that has a lover graphics capability than the pro.
solution Hi now I've got my full animation window->full screen and vice versa back again. The "bad" switch at least for my set up is: Preferences->Appearance->Full Screen check box for "Change Mac OS X resolution checked: no transition animation not checked: everythings works fine is it a bug or is it a feature?
Well, I can tell you 100% this problem was not processor-related. I have a MacBookPro, and running under Tiger with build 5584, the full-screen transition ran just fine. Then I upgraded to Leopard (doing a full erase-and-install) and re-installed Parallels, and just like that, I no longer had the transition. It seems that the default setting on that Appearance option had been set back to on; changing it to "off" solved the problem for me. In summary... The Parallels -> Preferences -> Appearance option: "Full Screen: Change Mac OS X resolution" - set to "ON": no animation, and full screen does not change the resolution of Parallels Windows VM - set to "OFF": animation works, and Parallels Windows VM is set to take up the full resolution of the Mac Book Pro screen Thanks to the poster who first mentioned that preference - it solved my problem!
