i just bought a new imac but unfortunatly, i still need windows xp. so i installed parallels desktop and everything seems to work fine except that i cannot watch any dvd or movie. i tried installing windvd, power dvd and its say to lower my screen resolution and i did but still does not work. in device manager, it seems that its does not regonize the vga video controller driver. does someone has the driver or know how to fix this^ thank you
I am also interested in dvd video support under Parallels. I have the same issue with WinDVD, posted about it over a month ago. http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=18443
You should be using bootcamp to watch dvd movies. The windows drivers and the windvd or powerdvd will make a better usage of the graphics card and your sound board if they go thru the windows drivers, then if they access a generic card thru the parallel drivers.
fbronner wrote "You should be using bootcamp to watch dvd movies." No, I want real virtualization. The convenience of not having to shut down OSX and boot into another OS, plus the convenience of not reserving a section of my hard disk for bootcamp is what I want. The DVD example is just one of many issues that Parallels has with the virtualization of the video. The video driver needs work to allow better support.
