I have only had my iMac for two weeks. I have partitioned it and installed windows SP Pro, Office Pro 2007, and a productivity program called ACT. I have now purchased Parallels and am wondering if I have to uninstall everything in the windows partition before installing parallels or is there a way to install it and move everything (all data, too) onto the Mac side and then eliminate the partition and not lose any data?

I am a novice at Mac and semi literate on computers in general, so I need help and hopefully detailed instructions.

    thanks, FHirt

    Hello,

there is an option to use the Boot Camp partition with Windows that you already have on your Mac as the virtual machine for Parallels Desktop. Thus you will have all you data, files and applications that you already have. Strictly speaking, you will run the same Windows at the same time with MacOS.
For detailed information, please, see page 265 of the User Guide for Parallels - all steps about how to use the Boot Camp partition as a virtual machine are outlined there.
