Hi, I'm using XP Pro on my new iMac. I guess with the last Parallels update, I seemed to lose my Parallels XP Shortcut which allowed me to launch XP with one (1) click. Please note that I DO still have my Parallels Desktop icon. Now since that XP shortcut is gone, I have to start the Virtual machine from zero every time by clicking my Parallels Desktop icon and selecting XP as my virtual machine. I did go into the settings to make XP launch automatically when my virtual machine is started, but this is still two (2) steps instead of one (1). Is there a way to get my Parallels XP icon back? Many Thanks for any help,....Frank B.
Restoring invisible icons brightbelt, There's an article at the following link that addresses how to restore a Mac HD icon missing from the desktop. It also discusses the restoration of icons for folders. The solutions in the article may work for you. Disclaimer: Although the solution for missing Mac HD icon worked for me, I can't claim it will fix your problem of a missing Parallels icon. Use your own judgment when deciding whether to use the info. And good luck. http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html jsqr
Many Thanks for the tip jsqr. I read the article and my sense is that it is meant only for Mac hard drive situations, and I'm not sure it would translate to restoring a Parallels icon. For example, what would the "name" of the Parallels XP icon be? It seems fuzzy to me. Many Thanks again, though. Just getting a response helps my resolve to keep trying. Frank B.
