Hello, I am not sure if this is related to Parallels, but recently I cannot remove English input method from Windows 10. I only want to use Japanese IME but Windows forcibly change my input method to English. The English input method reappears after I completely remove English language pack from Windows. There is a new "English (United States) - United States (Apple) - Parallels" keyboard but does anyone know what this keyboard is for? Thank you,
You can also try the following steps, but please make a full backup copy of your VM before using this workaround. - Shut down Windows virtual machine. - From Parallels Desktop menu go to Window -> Virtual Machines List -> right-click on your virtual machine -> select 'Show in Finder' -> right-click on the .pvm -> select 'Show package contents'-> open config.pvs using TextEdit -> locate the "KeyboardLayoutSync" tag -> change 'Enabled' value to '0' (zero) -> close config.pvs -> reboot your VM
Thanks a lot Maria. I encontered the same problem and could fix this by your advice. I'm using Parallels + Windows 11 Japanese with US keyboard. I thought (not sure, just thought) this happens after update Parallels and following Parallels Tools installation. Regards.
Sorry to dig up an old thread - but this seems to be coming back like a zombie. Environment: - macOS Tahoe 26.5 - Parallels Desktop 26.3.2 - Windows 11 Home 25H2 - Windows display language: English (United States) - Input method I actually want: Japanese / Microsoft IME Issue: Windows keeps showing this extra input method: ENG English (United States) -- United States (Apple) - Parallels I only want Japanese / Microsoft IME. The extra Parallels/Apple/US layout makes IME switching more annoying. What I already checked: - Disabled KeyboardLayoutSync in config.pvs per KB 115200 - Get-WinUserLanguageList shows only Japanese - HKCU:\Keyboard Layout\Preload shows only 00000411 - HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload also now shows only 00000411 - Get-WinDefaultInputMethodOverride is already Japanese Microsoft IME - I did not find an obvious Parallels/Apple/US layout under HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts ....but the ENG entry still appears. So this does not look like a normal Windows language setting issue anymore. It looks like Parallels is still exposing or injecting United States (Apple) - Parallels somewhere outside the normal Windows input settings. Is there a supported way to remove/suppress this entry while keeping Windows display language as English and using Japanese Microsoft IME as the only input method?
