Hello, hopefully on of you can help me. I don't exactly know if the issue is within parallels or Mac. I want to use a VM with Windows for both users of our Macbook. Therefore I found the following description: https://kb.parallels.com/en/9303 I did follow the whole description. The Mac has to Users: johannesmeyer and sabrinameyer. Parallels is owned by johannesmeyer and I want to add the VM for Windows 11 to sabrinameyer. When entering the last step of the guide there shall be a prompt to enter the password of user sabrinameyer, but this is not happening - so I guess the process is not fully completed / functional on our end. When we lock into the account of sabrinameyer windows stucks in pause - when hitting continue it doesn't proceed. Do you have any suggestions on how to overcome current situation? Thank you in advance
Hello @JohannesM7 Thank you for your feedback. As a possible solution, please follow the steps below: 1. Shut down the Virtual Machine. Make sure that the virtual machine is shut down. If it is in a suspended state, please run it and then shut it down (Actions > Shut Down). 2. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal) and execute the following command to navigate to your virtual machine's folder by copying and pasting the following and pressing Return/Enter: cd /Users/Shared/Parallels/ sudo chmod -R og+rwx /Users/Shared/Parallels/Windows\ 11.pvm 3. The Virtual Machine and Parallels Desktop Application should be closed completely in Mac User account A in order for the Mac User account B could launch the Virtual Machine again on his side. Please apply the settings below: a. In mac User A > Open Parallels Desktop > click on the Parallels Icon on top of the Mac menu bar > Select "Control Center" b. Right-click on your Windows Virtual machine > Select "Configure" > choose the "Options" tab > Startup and Shutdown. c. Modify the settings as custom below: On VM Shutdown : Quit Parallels Desktop On Window Close : Shutdown d. After applying the above settings, this made sure when we are closing the virtual machine, it's closing Parallels Desktop app as well, thus allowing the second user to use Parallels Desktop and opening the shared Windows 11 virtual machine without any issues. Thanks!
