I have mac os 10.4.11. with a vm of windows xp and internet explorer 7. I need to change the screen resolution because my real estate MLS sites won't display properly. But I can't do it from windows xp. It doesn't take. So I though I might need reconfigure my VM somehow but you need to stop it to configure. I'm also not sure exactly what changes I will need to make.
When I stop it, it automatically closes paralles. HELP! I'm a want to be geek-this shouldn't be so hard!!!!

    Kat,
What mode are you working in, Single Window OS, Coherence, or FullScreen?

Hold down the apple (command) key when you open Parallels, it should let you edit the different settings.

Thanks!!!I'm in single window. Your tip worked for accessing the configuration but I still can get the resolution I need to stay. I don't know if its an explorer problem, a windows xp problem or a parallels problem but it's making me crazy.

Click on parallels desktop (top of mac desktop) and look for "about parallels desktop". There you will find build number.

BUILD 5160 Is that like a version?

Yes, a build is similar to a version, just another method of tracking the programs changes.

Are Parallels tools installed? If so, try re-installing them. It sounds like a Windows issue or a Parallels Tools issue.

I reinstalled tools twice and tried to reinstall windows but it wasn't a clean install. Maybe I should try that when I have time to reinstall everything else.
    Thanks for your input.

If you are working in single window you are bound by the resolution (and size) of your screen / mac OS. So if you set your screen to 1024x768 in mac OS. you won't be able to make your VM any bigger in single window (as you don't want to expand the window to something that outstretches the borders of your screen.)

try changing the resolution of your mac-screen. System preferences --> displays.

after changing the resolution just resize your single window.

let us know if that worked

    cheerz,

    Thomas
