    Hi All
I was given a retail version of Parallels which I THINK was version 2.5 (build 3186 perhaps?) back in November as a present.

Since then I have received a couple of updates with the built-in updater.

Yesterday it downloaded build 5582, however when I install the new version asks for a new serial. The serial that came with the box no longer works.

I have tried uninstalling the older version, and reinstalling with no success.

Reverting to the previous build of 5160 works fine.

I am running it on a MBP under Leopard.

    Thanks

    Kevin

    ...language specific serials?

    Hi,

I experienced the serials to be language specific....
...which is a problem for me, because I cannot update to 5582 :( (German serial)

    Regards
    Alex

hmmm, could be, but then why did he updater download it. I would have thought that it would be clever enough to know which version to download! Maybe just wishful thinking :)

It might refuse your serial because you have a version 2.x serial and you are trying to use it on a version 3.x program. I also bought the version 2.x and had a voucher for a free upgrade to version 3.x after mailing in the voucher I got a new serial number for version 3.x.

So.... if this is the case you either have a new serial but you forgot (I got it through e-mail)... orrr... you need to get a new one from parallels :D

    Goodluck !
