I have always been a PC user, and after the ease of using ipods and iphone have converted to an i-mac.

I have successfully installed Parallels Desktop and updated it.

I am now trying to install Windows XP using OS Installation Assistant. I follow all of the instructions right up until the computer attempts to install Windows XP using Virtual screen:
    Parallels (R) VGA-Compatible BIOS Version 2.01

I am told that the computer failed to boot by both hard drive and CD/DVD Rom

I follow instructions to reinsert the disc, but it makes no difference.

    Can anyone help me?

Are you by any chance attempting to install any version of Windows XP other than SP2? Win XP SP2 is the only version of XP you can install in Parallels.

If your version of Win XP is correct, I would uninstall Parallels and and delete your VM folder. I'd also empty your trash. Then do another install.

I'm also a former Windows user and have been using Parallels for about a year now with very few problems. Once you get it up and running, it works as advertised.

    Good luck,

    Lew

Thanks Lew, the only problem is that the disk is pre SP2
