Got a new MBP 16" with Max and 64GB.
    Installed Parallels 17.
Loaded fresh MS Windows 11 Insider (Full Screen/Games)
    Installed Steam.
    Installed and run AOE2DE.
The first splash screen was visible as normal, but then switched to totally black screen.
After some time the intro music played but the screen stayed black.
I read a lot of successful installations under CrossOver but should run under Parallels too...

Any clue, perhaps an option or s.e. ?

Bought a brand shiny new MBP 14" M3max days ago; Parallels 19, Windows 11 Pro ARM, Steam, gaming modes in both VM and Windows.

Very same issue on AOE2DE; tried to impose the SKIPINTRO to the Steam game commandline with no effect: jumped the splash screen but stays black as before, while the music is still going on.

AOE4 won't start either, probably the fact Parallels 19 is not DX12 Ultimate compliant yet is a factor...
The game is declared unplayable in Crossover 23 and Gaming Porting Toolkit.

Silicon M3 is a crunching beast, but in the gaming arena there is the same old gap with the Windows world :(
As of now, I can only play Baldur's Gate III with my new work+fun computer...

    Hello,
As per the system requirements for the game of Age of Empires II, it needs 4 GB of RAM to run smoothly. Since Windows will use up to half of the assigned system memory (RAM) for graphics when required, we advise you to allocate 8 GB of RAM to your Windows 11 VM, addressing potential issues caused by insufficient resources allocated to the Windows 11 virtual machine.
As a possible solution, kindly follow the below steps:
    1. Shut down your virtual machine (from the menu bar, select Actions > Shut Down).
    2. Open the virtual machine's configuration > Hardware > CPU & Memory > Manual.
    3. Set the required amount of RAM to 8 GB by selecting it in the drop-down menu.
Kindly refer to this article for more information.
If the issue still persists, kindly reproduce the issue and collect a technical report (right-click Parallels icon in Dock > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and provide us with the report's 9-digit ID in reply to this post.
    Thank you.

My MBP Silicon M3max has 36 GB of RAM.
So I'd think Windows would use 18 GB, far more than 8...

Anyway I'll try to reproduce that issue and send it to you in a couple of hours.
    TKS

    Let's recap:
    * Left the amount of RAM to Automatic, unchanged
    * I've seen a Parallels update just minutes ago
    * Installed it, rebooted WIN11 ARM VM (just to be sure)
    * Reinstalled manually Parallels Tools
    * Rebooted VM (just to be very sure)
    * checked for a new Windows Update patch (just to be a lot sure): nope
    * started Mac video recording (https://www.dropbox.com/s/oblkjer1qw0pvib/Registrazione schermo 2023-12-28 alle 10.54.11.mov?dl=0)
    - started Steam and AOE2DE with no command line: intro shown as expected, then it works and I can see the game menu!
    - exited game, set SKIPINTRO: intro not shown as expected, then it works again!

WTF? o_O well it's good job anyway...
    SOLVED

I'm going to reinstall AOE4 as well, who knows... A pity this MBP monster could not run a AAA Windows game :p

    Hello,
Please note that currently, DirectX 12 is not supported by Parallels Desktop. However, we have escalated your case as a feature request to support DirectX 12.
