    Hi,
Today I found that my Windows 11 for ARM VM can not open any USB drives. It is visible in device manager but not in Windows Explorer. Any idea how to fix it?

I'm having the same issue except with intel based mac. I opened a ticket with parallels but have not gotten a response. This is the error message that I get.

    Hello,
Ideally for a USB mass storage device, you should connect it to the Mac, and then use it as a shared device.
You can set Parallels Desktop to automatically mount storage devices and volumes to Windows. That way, you can access the contents from both macOS and Windows.
You can do that by performing the steps below:
    1. Open your virtual machine Configuration.
    2. Go to Options > Sharing > Share Mac
    3. Make sure you tick Share Mac volumes with Windows.
Secondly, if you have a scenario where you need to connect a specific USB device to the virtual machine, as a workaround, you will need to install Parallels Desktop 19.0.0 Build.
    Regards,

Any ETA for the fix? I'd rather not downgrade.

    Hi,
the shared Folder solution does not help me. I'am using a License Dongle for a Windows Software. The Software does only recognize the License if the Dongle is connected "directly" to the Windows OS.
    Is there any other solution?

I have the same issue. The first solution is not working. Is there only a downgrade left als soloution? Maybe an update coming to fix this problem?

Unfortunately the new macOS didn't fix it for me.

    Hello!
In order to proceed with further investigation, kindly provide us with the below information:
    1. Reproduce the issue.
    2. Collect a technical report (right-click Parallels icon in Dock > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID in a reply.
    Thank you!

Hi, thanks for your reply. The device is a Bosch GM MDI-2 diagnostic USB interface.
The drivers are located here. https://www.boschdiagnostics.com/software-updates/software-gm-mdi-and-mdi-2
    What it looks like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386451627013

On Intel Mac and parallels, it works properly and shows up in the device manager as network Bosch VCI. See the photo.

On M2 and M1 Mac Windows 11 ARM and Windows 10 Arm it shows as USB serial com port and it cannot communicate wit the diagnostic software.

I don't know whether this applies to the particular problems you folks are having, but I found during my migration to MacBook M3 running Tahoe that upon power on, the USB drive was not visible/accessable and a small clue message appeared saying to unlock access.

Do this search: usb drive security privacy settings mac

System Settings > Privacy & Security > Allow accessories to connect

    All is now well.

OK, I've run headlong into this problem with a portable sdlim DVD writer/reader. In MacOS, I can get MacBook M3 to offer connecting, but it refuses it cannot connect NOW. Device shows up in PC listing of drives, but will not allow connection. When going to Windows 11 VM, a popup window flashes on and off rapidly, asking to choose between MacOS or Windows 11.

Nothing I do allows me to access the portable DVD Drive.

    HELP!!

Just to qualify that the DVD drive fails to function on MacBook M3 with Parallels and Windows 11 ARM VM, please know that the same portable DVD drive works flawlessly on Intel MacBook MacOS and BootCamp booted Windows 10.

So let these posts focus attention by Parallels staff to what is certainly, an outright failure, a critical failure that prevents loading and installing software via a DVD source.

If Parallels 19.1 on Windows 11 isn't recognizing USB drives, try these steps:

    1. Make sure Parallels Tools is installed and updated.

    2. Check USB & Bluetooth settings in Parallels to ensure the device is connected to the VM.

    3. Restart both your Mac and the Windows VM.

    4. If it still doesn't work, try unplugging and replugging the USB, or update Parallels to the latest version.

Some clarification is in order ..l.

    1) I am a new Parallels user and started fresh with P 26.
    2) USB storage devices work OK. The thing that is failing outright is my portable DVD device. It works fine on my Intel MacBook for both MacOS and Windows 10. It doesn't work at all on my new MacBook M3 for either MacOS or Windows 11 VM with Parallels 26. MacOS is Tahoe.

Symptoms: I am able to verify that the DVD device is being seen as it shows up in listed storage devices as Drive F. However when Windows 11 VM is started or is unlocked,, I get a flashing popup screen that would apparently allow me to choose assigning the device to either MacdOS or the Windows 11 VM. It flashes on and off so quickly and repetitively that I can just barely read what the popup displays. Attempts to click on it are ignored. As a result, I am unable to migrate key software applications to the new MacBook M3.

    Further Info ...

My portable DVD device is LG's
Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer with M-DISCâ„¢ Support

    Model:
    GP55EX70.AVAR10B

I went looking for downloadable drivers on LG's site and found that they claim there is none, as MacOS or Windows willl sense the drive and for the first time, do the driver download of the appropriate driver. I get the sense that this is where the MacBook M3 and Windows 11 ARM VM are failing. They are not properly sensing the drive and downloading the necessary driver.

This puts me in a spot as I don't know where to turn to get the problem issue corrected. I surely don't want to buy another DVD/CD drive and find that it's just another one that fails in this way.

    Any advise?
