System is a new Mac Pro received last week. Before installing Parallels, I did use Time Machine. I downloaded the latest version of Parallels on Dec. 6 so it is the latest version. I am a bit new to this so if you have a any suggestions/solutions, I would appreciate them being written very simply... When Parallels is running, my CD/DVD drive opens and then closes quickly! It's a bit difficult to try to put a CD into something like that. When Parallels is closed, the drive operates normally. It is a single drive as I didn't order the dual one. Has anyone else had this issue? It will be difficult to install anything since I can't keep the CD/DVD drive open long enough to put an install CD in it. Solutions/Suggestions would really be appreciated as I found nothing on the forums when I searched. Regards...
I've have the same problem. Best solution for me is to disconnect the CD/DVD from the VM when I'm not actually using it. (I've got two CD/DVD's in my Mac Pro - alt eject opens both drives, eject opens drive 0 but it closes immediately). Then the drive bays seem to work as they should. If somebody has a real way to fix this it would be great to pass it along. I'm running 5582 on Leopard 10.5.1 with a Win XP VM.
That worked... Very weird! When I disconnect it, as you suggested, it works properly! That's not a real solution but a bandaid. Thanks for your help and I hope there is a real solution out there! Pat
