Hello. My Parallels seems to be permanently locked up. I can not bring up the start menu to choose program. I can not double click to open the recycle bin. I an not open the one application I have on the desktop.

I am completely stumped. I have closed and re-opened. I have restarted my mac completely and opened parallels back up. NOTHING works. It is like the program is completely dead.

i have one folder on the desktop and it looks highlighted.

Anyone know what I should do?

    thanks

    Hello,

can you use your keyboard and mouse in Parallels? May be there is a problem with them?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

I have similar proble, have wasted most of day trying to resolve. Here is what I found.

Everytime I open XP it loads and then I get the marble of doom and clicking anything in XP takes forever, system not usable.

After booting in safe mode and uninstalling parallels tools it worked fine.

I reinstalled parallels tools and am again essentially locked up.

Uninstalled again and am running without the tools for now.

A few hours ago I tried a full uninstall and reinstall. Still same marble of doom once tools are installed. Having wasted a whole day I then installed VMWare Fusion.

First impression is that I find VMware is MUCH better. Kids games that were too slow to use on Parallel 3.0 now fly. I also prefer the easier look/feel in switching between os's. Not sure if I will go back.

    Hello,

    Amphicar770,
could you please specify your version of Mac OS and build of Parallels Desktop?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

Someone else had a similar problem with the keyboard and mouse not working in Windows. Try the solution in this post.

I am guessing that one of the following is responsible for your problems, try changing these options (which can be accessed by going to the "Edit" menu and selecting "Virtual Machine..." while the virtual machine is not running):
    - Shared Applications (try turning off the options related to this)
    - Shared Profile (if it is on try turning it off)
    - Shared Folders > Share Windows folders to Mac (uncheck "All Windows disks")

If you can get Parallels running smoothly then games should run much better than in Fusion due to the fact Parallels has significantly faster DirectX acceleration (but Parallels Tools need to be installed to use this acceleration).

To be honest, I deleted it last night after not getting it to work. It would have been the latest build f(non-beta) rom your web site. I had previously been running 2.x without problem. I am running XP Home Edition under OSX ... whatever they call the version prior to Leopard.

Hello. I was able to move my mouse around, but just not click on anything.

But anyway, after a few days and a few attempts, miracuously, parallels rebooted and XP started fresh. Once that occurred, everything was fine.

though, I am not excited about using parallels anymore and have yet to use it since it fixed itself.

    thanks
