Hi all - I've searched the forums for a solution to this problem but haven't yet found one. If it is already out there and I missed it, my apologies.

    Here is what is happening...

    1. Mac OS Version - Leopard
    2. Parallels Build # - Just upgraded to 5580, but the problem has been consistent across all builds.
    3. What kind of computer - Macbook Pro - 2.4 G C2 Duo
    4. Total Physical RAM - 4 GB
    5. Hard Drives - 1 250 G
    6. If you are using a BootCamp configuration or not - Yes, using boot camp.
    7. Did you upgrade from a BETA - no, installed released version and then upgraded to 5570 and subsequently 5580.
    8. With what Build did the problem start - Problem has been consistent across all builds.
    9. If Parallels Tools are installed - Yes (that's part of the issue)
    10. Anything you have tried to get things working - see below
    11. Anything specific about your set-up you think we should know - see below
    12. If you are crashing, upload some crash logs - N/A
    13. If you are getting an error message type it in and then attach a screenshot. - N/A
    14. If you are having issues with a specific component (i.e. mouse, keyboard, monitor) tell us what it is. - See below

OK, so here's the deal. Created a boot camp partition, installed Vista Business version. Subsequently installed parallels and told it to boot from the boot camp partition. When it first booted up (as expected) Mac OS X prompts me for a password. Then it went through and installed parallels tools. Here is where it gets weird. I shut down the VM and reboot. The mac acts like it's never booted before, asks me for a password and parallels goes through the whole tools installation again. This happens every single time I boot the VM. I've checked every configuration I know and can't find anything.

Other than that, once it installs parallels tools every time, it works ok.

    Any ideas? TIA

In case anybody is wondering, I've searched some more and this thread describes the problem pretty well, but doesn't seem to offer a solution.

The only thing that thread doesn't address that I am experiencing is this deal where Parallels Tools tries to install every time I start the VM.

    Hello,

please try to go in Configuration Editor of your VM (Edit -> Virtual Machine).
In 'CD\DVD-Rom' tab choose 'Use CD\DVD-Rom' and 'Default CD\DVD-Rom'.
In 'Floppy' tab please uncheck 'Enable'.
Then please observe the performance of VM and tell me the result.

    Best regards,
    Stacey
