I can't connect to my company's vpn using the built-in OS X vpn client. I've also tried a few third party solutions on the mac end with no luck. According to my IT department, they're somehow only allowing Windows connections. I can get in just fine using WinXP's built-in vpn client. Is there any way to share that connection back to OS X so my mac apps can use it and I can tap into the SMB shares?

Go check out a great little piece of Windows software called "Proxy +". IIRC the domain is http://www.proxyplus.cz/. From memory, it has pretty good documentation, but I must admit I haven't used it since late 2005 when I left the employ of the company I was with that used a Windows only SSL VPN to access the corporate resources remotely.

You'll need to give the Windows VM a fixed IP address (explained below).

You run P+ on your Windows client, and on the OS X host, create a new network location that in its configuration has all its proxy definitions defined to point to the fixed IP address of the VM with the relevant ports you have defined in Proxy +.

When you need/want to access the corporate resources using your OS X applications, you set the network location to that defined for the Proxy, run up the VM, run up P+, start your Windows VPN, cross relevant appendages and VOILA! It should all work.
