My Windows 10 pvm is 149GB. From within the Windows 10 VM the hard drive reports "166GB free of 255GB"; i.e., 89GB used. When I look at the drive from macOS it reports "95.84GB on disk".

Either way, it looks like there's over 50GB of difference here. How can I free up that space?

Some more background: the VM has one saved snapshot, and the "current state". If I drill down into the pvm I eventually get to two large .hdd files, one of 28.5GB and the other of 119.4GB.
