Can I set my Mac email program (Thunderbird) as the default email program even when wanting to send an email from within my XP Pro VM? For instance, if I am running a program (say, Mail Washer Pro) from the Windows XP and I want to reply to an email, it brings up Windows' Outlook Express. I would instead prefer that it brings up my Mac's Thunderbird (so I can keep all sent and replied-to email in one program, on my iMac). Is that possible?

    TIA,
    Bob

    Hi,

It is possible. Just open Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> General and select Open in Mac OS X menu item in the E-Mail menu under Shared Web Application box.

Sweet that works perfectly. Thank you. I'm going to have to get back to the thread over the weekend with a question or two (ok, three) apropos some security questions as I have disabled a variety of settings per this question/reply:

    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=17628

and that was preventing my iMac email (Thunderbird) from responding. I reverted everything and then made the setting you offered which indeed works great. I see now where I can be more selective in this and just have the very specific settings open to the iMac but I want to sit down with the user manual and then come back with questions. Basically I want to shut off all doors as possible to the iMac but still leave open what is necessary for what I need to do.

    Thanks,
    Bob
