I have a weird problem trying to run two of the UK broadcasters' catch up services on my Macbook Pro. They (BBC iPlayer and 4oD) install OK, but the video is unstable with unacceptable flicker and one of them (4oD) crashes all the time. It's clearly the same problem that's affecting both these services on my MBP. I'm running the applications (WMV based), in Parallels (Build 5060). They both run just fine on an identical configuration running on my home iMac. If anyone's interested, I can send the log file that the software crashes send to Microsoft if that will help troubleshoot this annoying problem. My MBP has 2Gb of RAM and is running 10.4.10. Any advice appreciated.
But a Boot Camp partition works just fine! So the catch up services work just fine running in Parallels-XP from a Boot Camp partition. No instability, no flickering. Very odd.
Same problem (jerky playback iPlayer & 4OD) I have tried various settings but still the playback is very jerky. I gave given the XP SP2 VM 1Gb ram and 64meg video. DirectX off, etc. Very frustrating! I even kill the evil kservices processes but still jerky what settings are optimum for windows media player 11 playback don't know.
