    Hi there.

I was a user of Parallels 2.5. I just purchased 4.0. I downloaded the latest software and was successfully able to complete the backup portion of the "Backup and Convert" section. Now when I am trying to launch the new Parallels Desktop machine, I get the following error message:

You are running out of free hard disk space.

Free some disk space on the hard disk and click Continue.

Note: If you stop the virtual machine "XYZ" now, you will lose all unsaved data.

When I click on "More details," I receive the following:

Free space on the drive=/Users/sandman/Library/Parallels/winxp.pvm necessary to run the virtual machine: 1114 MB.
Current free space on the drive(/Users/sandman/Library/Parallels/winxp.pvm): 1271 MB.

And of course there is nothing in the manual about this.

I am using a 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBookPro with 2 GB of Memory and Tiger 10.4.11.

Please advise as to my next specific course of action. My screen will sitting here like this until I hear back from someone since they charge $80 for the software and can't even provide phone support for the first week of purchase to solve issues just like this. Not the best first impression to giving new customers.

I will anxiously await your response. Thank you in advance.

    Cheers!

Hello, I have the same problem after a Parallels 4.0 upgrade.
I get the same message, but only at shutdown, and I have to click on the stop button to stop the VM ("continue" doesn't work).

    Message :

    Details :
Free space on the drive=/Volumes/PERSO/XP 2 (1).pvm necessary to run the virtual machine: 166 MB.
Current free space on the drive(/Volumes/PERSO/XP 2 (1).pvm): 783 MB.

It seems to me that 783 is bigger than 166 ?
    Could you help ?

"Running out of free hard disk space"

I am unable to run Parallels and dont know why. When I try to start Parallels I get the following message:

You are running out of free hard disk space
Free some disk space on the hard disk and click continue

I spent the day going through files and I have cleared a great deal of items. I also went to Parallels Image Tools and increased my Windows XP-0.hdd to 128 GB. In the configuration for my Parallels Virtual Machine, my memory is 4068 and my Hard Disk 1 file reads:
    /Users/enanas/Documents/Parallels/Windows XP.pvm/Windows XP-0.hdd
The "enabled" box is checked and my interface is IDE with location IDE 0:0
Note, under the file it says "Expanding disk, 128.0 GB"

I have clicked "Okay" and I have shut down my machine and then started it again and checked everything. I still can't start Parallels.

I get this when I click for "more details"
Free space on the drive=/Users/enanas/Documents/Parallels/Windows XP.pvm necessary to run the virtual machine: 4137 MB. Current free space on the drive(/Users/enanas/Documents/Parallels/Windows XP.pvm): 4339 MB

I have the same problem. I only use Parallels for one program. Yet some how my Parallels disk has bloated to 80 Gigs!!! I assume there is some Widows glitch causing some runaway backups???? But I just need it to stop. ANy advice?
