Just recently purchased a Mac and installed Parallels. Running Windows XP. We have been using the Adminstrator account, but we also created another account. All of the programs we're running have been installed under the Adminstrator account, so we want to continue to use that account. A program that we were running in Windows became non-responsive, so we shut Windows down. We then restarted Parallels and the Adminstrator account is no longer visible. It automatically made us log in to the other account that we set up. When we go to users in the control panel, the Adminstrator account is not visible - only the other account that we created. When we attempt to log off and request to switch users, the Administrator account does not come up as an account to log on to - only the other account that we created. How can we get access to log on to the Administrator account. We did make sure that the Adminstrator account is not disabled - it's not. We've also tried shutting down everything and restarting - got the same result. Thanks for any help.

    Hello ELC,

Try the following: when your VM is running, choose Run from the Windows Start menu and type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 in the input field, then click OK. The User Accounts dialog box appears. Your Administrator account must be visible there. Check the account's settings in Advanced tab yourself or send me the Snapshot of "Administrator Properties" (Advanced -> Advanced user management -> click "Advanced" -> Users -> Administrator).

    Best regards,
    Xenos

Thanks for your help. Attached are screenshots of the requested detail of the Administrator account. Please let me know if you see anything - we would really appreciate any help. It's frustrating because we were using Outlook for email and now we can no longer see any of the emails that we sent because they were sent under the Administrator account. Thanks again - ELC

In Advanced tab, Secure logon, select "Require users to press Ctrl+At+Del". Click "OK". Restart your VM. Please, let me know if this will help.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

Just for the record, Parallels does not play with the accounts at all... Your issue is not Parallels related.

Unfortunately, your suggestion of selecting 'require users to press ctrl+alt+del' did not change anything. We still only see our other user account - not the Administrator account. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. And, thank you for helping even though this apparently is not a Parallels issue. ELC

    ELC,

I think you should address your question to Microsoft Support. I would really like to help but sure Microsoft Support will be more helpful in your case.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    ELC,
Usually setting the system to require ctrl+alt+delete will take care of you.

Did you restart after applying the setting? If not, try again and do that directly afterwards.

Oh yeah, you can always hit ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the alternate screen.
