Hi. I'm running XPPro in Parallels on a MacBook. I have a generic T-mobile PDA running Windows Mobile, that I'm trying to connect to ActiveSync on the virtual machine. My problem is that when I plug the USB connection in, Parallels doesn't see the PDA. The weird thing is, it saw it the FIRST TIME I ever plugged it in. I have tried downloading the latest version of Parallels, rebooting the Mac multiple times and starting Parallels from the .app as was suggested elsewhere on this forum. Parallels has no trouble seeing other USB devices I plug in like thumb drives, mice or printers. And it did see the PDA the first time. Any help on why this might be happening would be appreciated.

Addendum: A friend of mine suggested that iSync might be trying to sync with the PDA and thus interfering. I checked that and iSync doesn't see the PDA EITHER, so maybe this is an issue with OSX? Any ideas? This is my boss's computer and he wanted this done yesterday.

You guessed wrong. Your phone is running Symbian and has nothing to do with Microsoft ActiveSync nor the Windows Mobile OS running on thta T-mobile PDA.

    Hello,

If you can't see connected USB devices, try the following steps:

    1. Start Windows guest OS , go to "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Device Manager" and uninstall all devices under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (right-click the devices).
    2. Shut down your VM.
    3. In VM Configuration Editor, delete the USB Controller and start Windows guest OS again.
    4. Wait 5-10 minutes until Windows finishes the driver setup.
    5. Shut down Windows.
    6. Add "USB Controller" back to your VM configuration and start Windows again.

    Best regards,

Win CE device and Active Sync

I am trying to connect my Dell PDA to Activesync (3.7.1) When I look in Device manager I can see the entry for the PDA but it keeps appearing and disappearing. Like it is being polled. Just now I get a message that something else is trying to connect to the PDA. I don't know what that would be. or how to turn it off in OS X.
I tried clearing all the usb entries in device manager then restarting then turning on the usb in my parallel configuration but that did not help
Downloaded ver 3 build 5160 but that did not help either.

    Suggestions please.

    Hello,

Your VM and Mac are probably trying to connect to the PDA at the same time.
When your VW is running, click Devices on the toolbar, choose your PDA and tick it out.
Now look, if it's seen in the Device manager. If not, repeat the previous action. I believe you'll see it this time and it should work properly.

    Best regards,
    Xenos
