Somehow I have lost my desktop when I run Parallels. Windows XP Pro automatically starts. All I can do is go to the dock at the bottom and click on the Parallel icon with the Start button overlayed on it. This brings up the start menu but I can't make my Windows XP desktop appear. When Parallel is running there is a small spot on my screen that is really not an icon but looks like a small window that has been reduced to about 1/8" wide by 1/4" high. Clicking on this small window makes the Parallel task bar appear. I cannot stretch it out or make it larger. When I do open a program from the Start menu the desktop appears for about a second then flies off to the right of my screen. What have I done and how do I get my Desktop back? I am using a Macbook Pro- Mac OSX 10.4.10 Thanks, Ray
Hello, Rayddd, You should check your configuration settings. Before you start Windows on the VM, click "Configuration" -> Options -> Booting. You probably have "Default" specified in "Startup Mode". It means that the view mode you've chosen the last time you worked on VM will be reproduced when you start it again. If the desktop flies off to the right of the screen, you are in Coherence mode. So, to get rid of Coherence mode, you can change "Default" in "Startup Mode" by "Single Window", for example. Or you can click "View" on your task bar, when Windows is running, and choose another mode. I can't get the problem of the small window reduced to about 1/8" wide by 1/4" high. Could you send me the screenshot on PM? Best regards, Xenos
Thank You! You were correct- I was in the Coherence view- Now the small box has disappeared- Thanks so much for you help- Ray
