Windows 10 version 1709 is stuck in a "halfway installed" mode. Windows Update says "This update is ready to install! We need your help deciding when to restart so we can finish up." When I click "Restart now", the Guest OS does a restart, and part way through the Windows 10 upgrade process, the entire Mac OS system crashes down to the "white apple logo". When the system comes back up, and I launch the Windows VM, it says once again, "This update is ready to install." It also crashes on its own, as Windows tries over and over to do the restart once a day. Please help! Thanks, Ed Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac Pro Edition, Version 13.2.0 (43213)
Good afternoon Arun, Usually the update tries to run itself overnight, and in the morning I find my machine has crashed and restarted. This time, to capture screen shots, I watched the screen the whole way. The process did not have any problems, Update 1709 completed and it did not crash! One thing that was different, is that since I was watching, when Parallel Tools warned me it had just installed and was going to force a reboot in two minutes, I clicked "Postpone" to hold off on the reboot. The Windows 10 system was still using a bit of CPU time for about another minute or two. Then, Windows 10 then informed me a reboot was required to finish installing dsrivers. I did the reboot, and all is well! I guess I need to carefully monitor major Microsoft updates in the future. I don't know if the Parallel Tools auto-restart was the issue, but in any case, I am all set. Thanks for your help! -Ed
Hi @Edward_Christians , Parallels Tools are the set of drivers which are supposed to be installed inside the Windows virtual machine , so we will be able to use all the features of Parallels Desktop for Mac. If the issue still happens, please get back to us, we will help you out.
My High Sierra Mac OS crashes randomly when I launch my VM. I moved it to an external hard drive and it worked for a while, then stopped out of no where. Support has been very unhelpful, it may be time to try another product for me.
Hi @JeffreyH3, please check if you have enough free space on your Mac HDD , at least around 30- 40GB . If yes, please try to perform first aid on your Mac and check if that helps.
