Parallels is getting worse not better

Discussion in 'Installation and Configuration of Parallels Desktop' started by Parallels User, Mar 4, 2018.

  1. I have some old programs that refuse to run on Windows 10 no matter how I set it up so I dug out my old Windows XP and attempted to load it on Parallels THREE TIMES... each time I try, part way through the install I get the blue screen and Parallels all on it's own sends the XP VM to the trash. I wasted hours on this.

I then download Oracle Virtualbox WHICH IS FREE and it works.. I load and run Windows XP... what in hell is with Parallels????????

I'm now wondering why I waste my money buying Parallels when I could stick XP and 10 in Oracle Virtualbox and pay nothing..... WHY SHOULD I BOTHER WITH PARALLELS????? TELL ME....

Hi @MichaelF7 , Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac supports Windows XP , so there are various reasons for the failure of installations. Please help us with the screenshots of the error you are getting and try using a different installation file and check if that helps.

  3. Arun, I don't get an error I get the horrible Windows Blue Screen and the install stops then deletes itself. I don't get a chance to get a screenshot. I did this three times and then gave up. When I used Oracle Virtualbox the install worked perfectly all the way through, not that it really mattered in the end as I see Microsoft has turned off it's servers so I can't even register it or update it.
