I have massive problems with my printer (HP LaserJet 1102w) after the last windows update.
Under Mac OS the printer works fine, under windows it works fine from 2013, until last windows update on 18.12.2017.
I cannot uninstall the updates, since windows installed 47 updates at this time.

Under windows, everything looks fine, but when I start printing I get an error message (unknown document could not be printed or kind of).
After that the printer seems to crash completely, and is also under Mac OS not working anymore.
The printer even loose the wlan connection to the router.

When I switch off the wlan (button) at the printer, it starts printing one page.
After that I have to switch off the printer, switch it on again, press the wlan button and the wps button at the router to connet them again.
Without pressing the wps button at the router, the printer is not able to connect again.
The printer even "forget" the data for connecting to my wlan after crash, I have to press wps button every time.

I already tried everything, new printer firmware, new windows- & mac driver, I connected the printer via usb cable to the mac, I connected the printer via usb cable to the router (does not work at all, printer falls to sleep and does not wake up anymore), the printer always crashes now when I print from windows.
I uninstalled the printer (it's installed via ip address in windows what works fine since 2013) and istalled it again, I tried the printer forwarded from mac via parallels. I have no idea what else to do...

    I guess found the problem...

It looks like, it was the Bitdefender antivirus scanner (on windows).

For reproducing the issues, after I made a backup, I wanted to reinstall the updates.

And I was thinking (because some time ago I had problems to install windows updates (loop) with Avira antivirus), maybe I could try to uninstall the Bitdefender before update.

    So I did...

After installing the Windows Updates again, no more problems so far.
Printer is printing again without issues, and no bluescreen anymore.

So, as far as I can say right now, the antivirus program caused the issues with Win 10 (again!).

I'm running Windows now without an extra antivirus (just the windows defender on highest security level).

Now 2 times the antivirus programs (Avira and now Bitdefender) caused massive problems with Win 10.

I'm using Windows since 1995, but I never have this kind of problems before.
Fortunately I work with Mac now, and I need Windows only for some important programs, which are not available for Mac.

    Thanks for your help!

Hi Dimitry, after hours of trying out I think I found a solution, or a workaround, what seems to work so far. I printed only some pages today, but so far without issues.
I don't know so far if this change will cause any other issues, but so far I can print (again). :)

MarkusH6, thank you for the info. Windows Defender is enough for protection...

I hope, I will give it a try for some time now.
I'm not using windows for surfing and email, so the risk is even less.
