Startup problems after Version 13 upgrade

Discussion in 'Installation and Configuration of Parallels Desktop' started by Parallels User, Oct 20, 2017.

  1. Help.
I just upgraded to v13 Pro on a Windows 10 install. When I startup, the screen resolution is huge (640x480 ish) and I can't seem to click on anything. The mouse (my macbook trackpad) moves but I can't click or right click on anything. If I send keyboard commands, I can type in things, but still can't click anything to initiate the response. I tried reinstalling parallels tools but it still opens up the same way and with the same limitations. I don't want to lose my VM but I can't get it to take any mouse click events.

I have the same problem too. When I use old version in the morning it was OK. But after I upgraded to v13 pro, the screen resolution is huge and I can't click on anything. Mouse doesn't work and MacBook trackpad doesn't work either. I could use keyboard. I tried to reinstall parallel tools several times but in vain.
    My mac OS is 10.12.6.

P.S. I tried what Alfena suggested.

Hello SeungminC, Please uninstall and reinstall Parallels Tools by referring this article and also try the steps suggested below :

1.Make sure the virtual machine is in shut down state.
    2.Open virtual machine configuration.
3.Switch to Hardware tab > Mouse & Keyboard > set Mouse to Optimize for games.
4.In Hardware tab switch to Boot Order > extend Advanced settings > in Boot flags box paste the following flag:
devices.usb.mouse=0 and check if this works. Thanks!

    Meena,

I tried to reinstall Parallel Tools following http://kb.parallels.com/112609. I could run PTA agent, but after 10 or 15% installing, it produced error messages and VM started again. I tried several times but PTA agent could not install Parallel Tools.

Then I tried another approach from https://forum.parallels.com/threads/install-parallels-tools-missing-from-the-actions-menu.342056/

Hello NathanT1. Please take a snapshot. Then, when in Windows, press Command+R to launch the Run window. In this window, type '%temp%' (without the quotes) and hit Enter. In the folder that appears, navigate to the folder 'PrlToolsPackages' and run the file named 'Setup' located within. From the wizard that appears, install Parallels Tools and then check whether or not the said option is still missing.

This one worked for me. I could install Parallel Tools successfully and now I can use Mouse in windows.
