I have virtual machines for Windows 10 and for Linux installed under Parallels, which I recently upgraded to Parallels 13. As of the past few days, I find that when I launch the Parallels app in the Mac OS (10.12.5), Parallels' control panel appears only briefly, and it immediately launches Windows 10. I've tried launching Parallels both from the Mac's launchpad and also from selecting the Parallels app in the Mac's applications directory, and the behavior is the same. Is there a way to undo this? I need to be able to get into Linux.
Hi FrankO1, Go to the Parallels menu by the apple then under Actions>Configuration>Options >Startup and Shutdown under Custom you must have one of the Starts Automatically >checked Un check and restart your VM. Please let me know if this corrected the situation for you. kat
Thanks. In that configuration box for Windows, Start Automatically was already set to "Never." So I instead selected "Start up and shut down manually" instead of "Custom." I then closed and restarted Parallels, but unfortunately the behavior is continuing and Windows 10 auto-starts when Parallels opens.
Hi FrankO1, Please reinstall Parallels tools also after you that please recheck that the prior changes you made are still there.
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, when I turned on the MacBook and launched Parallels, it now behaves normally and does not auto-launch Windows 10. Perhaps a power-off reboot of the laptop helped? So, problem is solved -- thanks again for the advice.
