Hi, A few days ago I updated Parallels to the 5160 build. No problem. I restarted it and Win XP started up just fine, and I installed the latest Parallels Tools. Then I restarted Parallels and XP as usual. XP buzzed a while and said there were 9 updates to install. Nothing unusual there, so I said okay and let it do its thing. Required restart after the installs (they all seemed to go fine). Upon this restart, I got errors saying the application lsass.exe failed to initialize properly (OK) then same error for services.exe (OK) then lsass.exe again and services.exe again, each time clicking OK. That was followed by a black screen. Trying to start up in Safe Mode produces exactly the same result, so at the moment I'm stuck. Any ideas as to what to do now? TIA Rob
Odd. Sounds like something went bad with your updates. Do you have any 'last known configs' that you can restore to? Snapshots?
Unfortunately no. I only use XP for running a bunch of browsers for checking web sites I work on. But if 5160 is otherwise known to work reliably, I suppose I could just reinstall XP. Isn't that the traditional process by which Win users keep their computers running? ;-0 Rob
You know, it is the traditional process for Windows users. Do that, and when you are done, make a snapshot. You will love the feature, it is great, something goes wrong, roll-back to an earlier version.
