    Hi all

Build 3214 on a MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz, 1GB RAM, Win XP Pro

Maybe I'm missing something but my power status, i.e. the battery or AC power icon, in XP doesn't reflect the host MBP's status. I can't find any way of mirroring the battery/AC power status in the XP VM. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

    hi,
i'm afraid you can't to mirror it information. Because guest Windows sees another hardware environment then host Mac OS X. In other words guest OS doesn't know that it working under Mac Book for example. It sees hardware similar to simple IBM PC. Single thing that can to bind guest OS with external host environment is Parallels Tools. So if it product has such feature - battery status monitoring (as for me - i didn't hear about it) then it's possible or not possible otherwise.

    Interesting difference b/nVMWare then

As I did try that too (the 1.0 release) and that can mirror the battery info. It's not a really big deal, imho, unless you're working in full-screen Windows on battery power, as you've got to come out of that mode to see the real battery status.

Got to say, the fact that Windows is running in a VM shouldn't make a great deal of difference as Parallels has just got to post the battery status to the VM, not Windows itself.

Ta though - I'll stop searching for the function!

It is doable, as you say, it would just take some information being passed. Maybe you should add this to the Wish List.
