    Hi,
I have PD10 Business Edition Version 10.4.0 (29337). I did download Win10 image from MS. When I try to install using the image, I receive an error message that the image is not recognized. If I continue anyways, the installation fails after creating the VM with a critical Parallels Error. I read on the internet that there are know issues with a manually downloaded image file. However, I am not clear how to proceed and install MS WIN 10 in my VM.
    Can you please advise?

    Thanks

Hello SaschaH1, please reinstall Windows by following the below steps and let us know how it goes:
    1. Install Windows 10 without an activation key and by using Express Installation unchecked
    2. After the Windows 10 installation is complete, go to Settings --> Update and security --> Activation, and click: Change product key.
    3. Enter the product key to activate Windows 10.

Thanks for your reply. I do not even get to this stage. Please see screenshots attached.
It just crashes before I get to chose any installation options e.g. express
I can provide Log Files if you need!

Please make sure Windows 10 downloaded iso size should be more than 4GB. If it less than 4GB, download Windows 10 once again and proceed with the installation.

Yes. I dowloaded it twice already. Size of the image is 4.33 GB (Win10_1703_English_x64.iso). I can easily mount the image and access it without problems.

I do have logfiles from the report that is created after the crash/event. Same logfiles have also been submitted to you as crash report from the application. Let me know if you need any particular log file. I can paste the content or upload etc....

We'll request for the log files if and when needed. Right now, let's try removing Parallels Desktop completely and then reinstalling it (just so we can be sure that the Parallels Desktop application itself is not the issue). Please quit Parallels Desktop. Then, open Terminal (Finder > Go > Utilities > Terminal.app). Inside the Terminal window, please execute the commands below one-by-one:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    sudo su

NOTE: You will be prompted to enter your Mac password after executing the first command. Due to security measures, you won't be able to see the password itself. Just type it in and hit return/Enter.

    rm -rfd /System/Library/Extensions/prl*

    rm -rfd ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels*

    rm -rfd ~/Library/Preferences/parallels

    rm -rfd ~/Library/Parallels

    rm -rfd ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/com.parallels.desktop.console.savedState

    rm -rfd /Library/logs/parallels.log

    rm -rfd /Library/Preferences/Parallels/

    rm -rfd /private/var/db/Parallels/

    rm -rfd /private/var/.parallels_swap

    rm -rfd /private/var/db/receipts/'com.parallels*'

    rm -rfd /private/var/db/Parallels/Stats

    rm -rfd /private/var/root/library/preferences/com.parallels.desktop.plist

    rm -rfd ~/Applications\ \(Parallels\)/

    rm -rfd /Applications/Parallels\ Desktop.app/

    exit
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Close Terminal. Then, open Disk utility (Finder > Go > Utilities > Disk Utility.app) and run 'First Aid'. Reboot the Mac. Then, please download Parallels Desktop 12, install it and check for the issue.

If the issue persists, please reproduce the problem, generate a Problem Report ID and include the same in your reply.

    Hi guys,
Quick feedback. I did follow your instructions above. Success. I was able to install Windows 10 on PD12 without any issues.
    Thanks for your good support!
PS.: I was actually working at Parallels for several years. I was in the Automation Business though which was renamed to Odin later and then sold to Ingram. :)
