Problem with shutting down and restarting Windows XP and Vista

    Hi,

I have Windows XP and Vista installed as guest OS with latest Parallels Desktop 3 build. Both operating systems hangs when choosing either restart or shut down from start menu. XP gave error that Parallels Tools clipboard sharing application is still running but Vista did not give any errors.

I also had probably non-related problem with video in Vista. It wont run. I tested with out-of-box Windows Media Player 11 and sample videos that shipped with Vista and I received error that video can't be played.

I would be truly grateful if you would provide me a solution for these problems.

    Best Regards,
    Toni

    Hello,

you can try to setup the latest build 5160 and update Parallels Tools. If this doesn't work, try to shut down the DirectX support in VM config.

    Hi,

Thanks for your advice. It seems that at least with XP problem solved by itself, it shuts down and reboots nicely now. I already removed Vista installation because I was running out of HDD space but I had already latest build and Parallels Tools installed. Well thanks for the help anyway, XP installation works fine now.

    Best Regards,
    Toni
