I heeded the warning and installed v12.2 the day it was announced to do so BEFORE upgrading to Creators Update! Over the weekend, Creators Update installed. All seemed good, but now, AFTER some short period of time, I lose the network connection in Windows. If I restart the VM, network works, I get the correct IP, Internet access works fine but at some point, can't figure out if something is triggering this, the tray icon for network has yellow exclamation and no internet. Checking IP I've lost the real IP and have that goofy 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP Windows seems to fall back on if it can't get a correct IP. I have reinstalled Parallels Tools, and of course, a restart gets a working network....for a while. Simply restarting the VM gets a working network.......for a while. I have restarted the router, and even restarted the iMac, same thing, network for xxx amount of time. So what's up with this, any ideas? I have NOT reinstalled Parallels Desktop completely, might try that. I have a manually copied PVM from before Creators, so maybe that's an option, but I'd prefer to just have the network working without all the hassle, it's been fine since the beginning of Windows 10!!! Thanks for any tips!! Tom Hesselman
Hi @Tom_Hesselman , please try changing the network adaptors by checking here and let us know if that helps.
I have Ethernet on top and the network adapter choice under Advanced Settings is greyed out, not selectable. Do I need to select Shared Network, like the article shows? I select it and the Advanced Settings stay greyed out, but maybe I need to apply or quit and restart?? It seems to be working just now, but the iMac hasn't gone to sleep, so maybe that's the problem, it sleeps, looses the network connection. Is that possible and if so, how do I keep that from happening? I'll let the iMac sleep now and see if the network dies, it's been up and working for a couple hours now!!
All does seem well now. Still curious why adapter choices are greyed out. Why can't I change the adapter type? I have Intel Gigabit CT (82574L) in there now, but I can't change it. Why?
Here's a screenshot. Why is the adapter choice greyed out under Advanced Settings? It's not on the page you linked in your first reply. That said, the network in my VM is working fine just now, so this question is just curiosity. What would I do if I WANTED to change the adapter type? Thanks!! Tom
Hi @Tom_Hesselman , please shut down your Windows virtual machine by Actions > Shutdown and check if you are able to view the network Adaptors.
Yes, it definitely seems fine. I'm not sure why it didn't work for 2 days after installing Creators Update, but it's been fine now. Thanks!
