Hi, I have previously had PD10 installed, and am trying to upgrade.

I attempted to install Parallels Desktop Version 12.1.3 (41532), but fairly quickly I see an error message "Parallels Desktop could not be started". It lists a problem ID of 15380, and a "solution" link to the knowledge base homepage. I have tried installing PD12, and after that failed, I tried installing PD11 first before installing PD12. In both cases the error was the same. I have sent 2 problem reports (Report IDs 148135684 and 148297715).

The last entry in the install log is -
    Jan 26 22:37:07 my-macbook pdfm-bootstrap[11450]: inittool[11208]: No wx-permissions for '/Users/administrator/Library/Parallels/'. Need to fix.

I have looked for this folder, but it doesn't exist. It does exist for my local user (i.e. '/Users/my_user_name/Library/Parallels/').

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey @PatM3,
    1. Open Terminal.app on a Mac.
    2. Proceed with executing the commands below one by one:
    sudo rm -rfd /System/Library/Extensions/prl
    sudo rm -rfd ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels
    sudo rm -rfd /Library/Preferences/parallels
    sudo rm -rfd /Library/Parallels
    sudo rm -rfd ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/com.parallels.desktop.console.savedState
    sudo rm -rfd /Library/logs/parallels.log
    sudo rm -rfd /Library/Preferences/Parallels/
    sudo rm -rfd /Private/var/db/parallels
    sudo rm -rfd /Private/var/.parallels_swap
    sudo rm -rfd /Private/var/db/receipts/'com.parallels*'
    sudo rm -rfd /Private/var/db/Parallels/Stats
    sudo rm -rfd /Private/var/root/library/preferences/com.parallels.desktop.plist
    sudo rm -rfd ~/Applications\ \(Parallels\)/
    sudo rm -rfd /Applications/Parallels\ Desktop.app
After that, please install Parallels Desktop 12 it should work.

That didn't work, unfortunately. I tried twice - the second time I restarted after removing the files. (Problem report IDs 149612366 and 149613567)
The error message is the same ("15380") and the last log entry the same as well ("No wx permissions...")

(Also - the given commands removed my existing license and links to the VMs. I had to add my VMs back in manually. Not a problem, apart from the scare of thinking I'd lost my VM. A small warning would have been nice.)

    Thanks for investigating!

Warning - Since running the above script I've been getting multiple errors in PD11 of "Dock Helper quit unexpectedly". The VM stalls for 5-10 seconds while the helper appears to restart.

FYI - I tried to upgrade again about two weeks ago, and had the same problem.
Then late last week, Parallels automatically automatically upgraded itself to version 12. No problems, and am now using the new version.

We are glad that the issue got resolved and you are able to use the new version. If you get same error again try to launch Parallels Desktop from Applications folder and then check.
