Hi, I've been using a Windows 7 VM created with Bootcamp, but running under Parallels from my iMac SSD. The SSD has limited space for the Windows partition, so recently I copied the Bootcamp based VM to a new VM running from my Thunderbolt drive. I have set the new Windows 7 VM for a 300 GB drive, but under Windows I can only scale up to 114.8 GB, with the remaining space available for another volume, drive D:. Windows will not allow me to expand the C: drive any further. When looking at both the original Bootcamp VM and the Transferred Bootcamp VM, there are four partitions. One is the GPT, one is the D: drive space, one is a 620 MB partition, and the last is my C: drive partition. I am attaching an image of the Transferred Bootcamp VM partitions using Windows Disk Management tool. My question is, how do I find out where this 620 MB partition came from? When I go to delete the partition, I get a warning message that Windows did not create it and I might be deleting important data. Does Bootcamp create an extra partition and use it somehow, or does Parallel create it, or could it be a hidden recovery partition? It seems like this file is preventing me from combining the two large GB spaces to get the 300 GB C: partition.
Hi agentdanger, Make sure that you have taken backup of the pvm file. Use this Partition Wizard tool only on the imported VM and merge the unallocated space.
Ajith, Thanks. I copied the pvm file and performed the operations on that VM. I manually deleted the 620 MB partition and saw no ill effects through a reboot. I then used the Partition Wizard tool to merge the larger partitions and now have the 300 GB drive size that I needed.
