I upgraded to build 5160 today, after starting Parallels and the Windows XP VM the Mac computer and hard drive seem to be monopolized by Parallels. This results in a very slow machine response, after about about 10 minutes Parallels quits unexpectedly. The Mac OS activity monitor says that Parallels is using 160% CPU, the task manager in Windows says that Parallels Tools is using between 70-90% CPU (under Processes Tab). This lead me to believe that there is an issue with Parallels Tools. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Parallels Tools several times and the symptoms don't change. I have a MBP Core Duo, 2GB running OS X 10.4.10. CPU usage from the Activity Monitor is 3-10% when parallels desktop is not running. The VM is Windows XP Pro. I upgraded today to 5160 from 4128. Build 4128 had been running without problems. The upgrade scheme I used is as follows:
    1. Uninstall Parallels Desktop (4128)
    2. Reboot
    3. Install Parallels Desktop (5160)
    4. Reboot
    5. Start Parallels Desktop and install Parallels Tools

    Any thoughts/recommendations

    TIA

    Pat

Okay, reverted back to 4128, Parallels is now working again with no issues.

Please provide me with additional information about your virtual machine configuration: memory, video, applications sharing status, shared profile status.
    Do you use Boot Camp?
What additional applications you have installed on Mac side?

    Thank you.

Could you try to unmount [C] Windows virtual disk in Finder when VM is running. Will it fix the problem?

    Configuration

    Memory 512 MB
    Video 32 MB
    Boot Camp NO
Application Sharing--whatever the default set up is, Web links are set to open in MAC OS. Parallels never stayed running long enough to change from the default
Profile sharing--I'm not sure, again whatever the default is--I didn't change it

    Mac Software

    Office for Mac
    iWork
    Quicksilver
    Firefox

Attached is a current snapshot of the activity monitor.

Since I've reverted to Build 4128 I haven't been able to see if unmounting the C drive in finder provides any benefit.

    Thanks for the help

    Pat
