I tried too upgrade to newest version (11-15-16) of Parallels 12.1 After it installed it tried to start up and load Parallels Tools, then froze up and crashed - multiple times.

I had to go back to Time Machine Backup and Version 12.02

I'm running an older Macbook Pro 17 (mid 2009) with 8Gb ram.

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Hey, please try to upgrade to the latest build of Parallels Desktop 12 and check the issue.

I am also seeing this issue. I updated to 12.1.1 and now parallels tools will not install. Keep getting error "There was a problem updating parallels tools." reboot

    Late 2013 MacBook Pro

Got the exact same problem as JoshM5 when i tried upgrading to 12.1.1 this morning. After the first time I got the error, I could no longer trigger installation of PT from the menu in Mac OS X. Tried to follow a number of how-to's in the Knowledge Base to remove any remains of the failed installation and then trigger a manual installation. No success, the same error still occurs.

    I have a MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012, 8Gb RAM, 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7, running OS X 10.11.6.

    Kind regard, Martin

Hi, file /Library/Parallels/Tools/prl-tools-win.tar.gz is missing or corrupted.
Please reinstall Parallels Desktop. If this is the first Parallels Tools installation in this Virtual machine, check that /Library/Parallels/Tools/prl-tools-win.iso exists.
If the file is in place, verify that it is connected to the virtual machine by going to the Devices menu > CD/DVD and connecting it to the virtual machine as described in this article. If this file is missing, please reinstall Parallels Desktop.

Hi I'm having the same issue. I'm assuming the /Library/Parallels/Tools/prl-tools-win.tar.gz is on the Mac system rather than the windows? I've reinstalled parallels 10 times and I can't seem to be able to resolve the issue. Can you advice please. I don't even have a folder names
