Last year I installed Windows 10 as an upgrade from the original Windows 7. Windows 10 could be installed succesfully and initially all Windows 10 updates have been installed successfully as well. For some time this changed. Some updates are automatically installed correctly, but most updates that are offered by Microsoft fail to install. The reason for failing is not clear. Sometimes I see a message with Fout (failure) code 0x700800705, sometimes a different code. The failing updates include the ones that are critical for the security and the upgrade to the latest release of Windows 10: 1607. I can not find information about the failure codes. I have tried to consult several websites on the internet, including the Microsoft Support site, but the information I can find for code 0x700800705 is usually related to older Windows versions (7 or 8), not specific for Windows 10. I also tried to get the failing updates as stand alone package, but installing these downloads did not solve the problem either.
Hi rakole, If you have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 which already had some issues then these issues might occur. You can try to upgrade Windows 10 to the latest build mounting the latest Windows ISO file. If the issue persists then you can try to repair Windows 10. If that too is not working then we need to create a new Windows 10 VM [you can use Windows 7 key for activation].
