This issue has been there for a while (it was present before the upgrade from Parallels 11 to 12). I use a Windows 10 VM and the default printer isn't saved anymore. I only have this issue with parallels. All my other native windows installs remember the default printer after a shutdown/restart. Anyone would know how to solve this? Thanks!
Hi @EmmanuelO1 Please take a snapshot of your virtual machine,Actions > Take snapshot... before you proceed with instructions below to be able to revert all the changes. 1. Remove all the printer in Windows 10 VM. Go to control panel > Devices and Printers > Right click on the Printers & choose remove device 2. Uncheck "Share Mac Printers with Windows 10" in virtual machine Configuration -> Hardware -> Print(Shared Printers): 3. Restart the Windows 4. Reinstall Parallels Tools 5. Check "Share Mac Printers with Windows 10" Now, assign your desired printer as default one.
Thanks Guna, I'm not sure I explained clearly, the driver remains, it's just the default that isn't always remembered. Also the default printer is only a windows printer, not a Mac printer, so I don't think what you suggested would help. However, I've done a test and it seems to stick now. Let's hope it stays like that! If it doesn't I'll try your suggestion. Thanks again for your help, Emmanuel
