Hi everybody, i've installed Oracle Forms Reports 11g on Windows 7 virtualized, when i try to open Forms Builder i get a popup "Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working" and in the event viewer i see that the faulting module is uiw.dll. I thought it was an Oracle problem, but i installed Windows 7 and Oracle Forms Reports 11g on VirtualBox (with the same parameters) and it works correctly. Is there incompatibility between Parallels and Oracle Forms? Thanks.
I'm sorry to join this discussion a year late, but did anybody manage to resolve the issue? I am trying to use Oracle Forms 11.1.1.6 64-bit on Windows 7 Pro (necessary because of a client's legacy stuff). Parallels Support claims that there is no link between Parallels and the Windows operating system, but this cannot be the case. I have been working on this for a month now, helped by Oracle technical experts, and it always comes back to an issue of compatibility. I managed to get a version partially working on a Win XP 32-bit Parallels VM. I also managed to install a 32-bit version on my 64-bit Win 7 machine and Forms even opened at the first attempt but crashed with the usual error thereafter. The DLL concerned (ui.dll) is an Oracle module, part of Oracle Toolkit for Windows. It works everywhere else but not in a Parallels VM, so that would seem to point unerringly to a Parallels compatibility problem. Anybody have any ideas?
I know this is an old thread but has anyone figured this out? I went with parallels to run all my windows apps on my macbook pro because i had heard it was the best and another coworker uses it on his mac. We are both controls engineers for a manufacturing company and i run all my programming software just fine. But i cannot for the life of me get out MANIT program to run. This is a oracle forms developer runtime 2000 based software that we use to change variables in our database for part parameters. I have seen it running in vmware and virtualbox just fine. I really dont want to have to rebuild all my virtual machines in fusion just to run this program. Right now im stuck with team viewer to remote into my windows machine to change values. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
I'm pleased to report I have oracle forms running inside parallels. If anyone is still having trouble please post or message me and I will gladly help you through the issue.
Hi Dustin I appreciate if you help me with this issue. I have the same issue, I'm using Windows 7 and Yosemite
Ok I didn't have access to the parallels drivers and tools source so I made a few patches inside the oracle windows toolkit. This will only work if your running oracle forms developer 2000 and the runtime executable is f50run32.exe if this is the version I can send you the patched dll if not let me know which version your using and I'll take a look
And just to be clear I ran the software Un patched through a debugger on a win7 and win 10 machine to watch the memory values at the exception handler. For some reason parallels manages memory different and there are different values loaded when inside parallels. So I changed the call to just move the exact line number of the next function in to get rid of the astronomical addresses.
I'm using the last version Oracle Forms 12c and Windows 7 64bit. I try with Oracle 10g version, too much problem just to install it.
My fix is for the older oracle forms runtime environment. I haven't tried 12 but isn't it all browser based?
